Shannon K Shines On Her Own

Shannon KSometimes talent runs in the family, and this is one of those families! Introducing Shannon K…

Born to Bollywood superstar, Kumar Sanu, Shannon K debuted her first single at age 12. The single was written by… her sister, Annabel K.
Shannon has led an interesting life and Up and Coming is thrilled she sat down with us to share her story.

Born in India, Shannon and her family moved to London when she was six. By this time, she had already made her stage debut (in India at age four), singing at the Bollywood Awards Night. Her father is one of the most decorated Bollywood vocalists, so it comes as no surprise she is being courted by labels around the world.

Though singing is her main focus, she has moved to Los Angeles via New York to hone her acting skills. She sings mostly pop songs and loves it as it helps people express their emotions. She loves that there are always people that can relate to the lyrics she sings. As her career progresses, she wants to incorporate more acting. She tells U&C Magazine that she loves creating something from nothing and loves to be able to take an audience on her journey.Shannon K

When did she know she wanted to be an entertainer? Given her heritage, it’s safe to say the industry chose her – and we are glad for it! Shannon K takes her craft seriously, using biographies of her favorite actors and singers as inspiration to keep working hard and furthering her career. She tells us her work ethic is how she stands out. Her work ethic and the passion for what she does. Chatting with Shannon has given us insight into how her mind works. She understands not everyone will love everything she does, which is why she selects projects that are true to her in that moment.

What is on the horizon for Shannon? She has always released singles and is now working on her debut album, which will be released in 2017. At 15, she has already experimented with music and genres and intends to keep doing so until she finds her niche. Want to check her out? Her single, ‘Sapphire’, is available for download on iTunes and you can see the video on Vimeo or YouTube.shannon-copy
